The featured artist for Week 8 of the Spring season of ‘Seeing Sounds’ update is Cleveland, Ohio artist Jawan .  The playlist features his nu-wave R&B track “For The Night” featuring Ohio’s own Midori Jaz - off of his most recent EP “Something to Feel”.

Cleveland based artist Jawan displays a true passion for highlighting important concepts that revolve around vulnerability. His music is a reflection of his journey as a man, as a son, as a lover, as a brother, and as a human. Jawan’s sound fuses Hip-Hop rhyme schemes with R&B cadences that stem from some of his favorite artists such as Musiq Soulchild & Jay-Z. His recent release, Something To Feel, explores the conflict he battles internally while trying to pursue his passions yet yearning love so much so that it’s forced him to identify flaws he’s masked for sometime. As an artist Jawan’s main agenda is to use music not only to help document his growth, but to use it as a vehicle for other black men to help identify themselves as well as promote vulnerability within our community. With vulnerability comes asking yourself the toughest questions and admitting your faults.

“First off let me say that I’m the biggest hypocrite. I know I be running games and you sick of it. Young nigga love hard but it got me running quick because I fear what’s to come from the sum of this.”

Expect more activity from Jawan within these next upcoming months. More music, more shows, and more important discussions to be had!
